Our association appreciates the community where we make our living, and we are proud to give back by participating in many community events each year, such as those mentioned below:
BIKES FOR KIDS - Every year since 2008, we have collected member donations to go toward buying Christmas bikes for needy kids as part of the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. Through 2017, we have collected over $30,000 which bought hundreds of bikes for kids that otherwise would never have gotten them. The donations were made to the Salvation Army during live broadcasts of the Mike Fleming Radio Program in 2008, and the Ben Ferguson Radio Program in 2009, and the last few years the donations were made during llive WREG TV news broadcasts. Congratulations and thanks members for participating in this worthy community event.
GOLF TOURNEY CHARITY DONATIONS - Over the years, proceeds from our member golf tourney have been shared with a worthy charity. In recent years, Camp Good Grief, a wing of the Baptist Health Foundation, has been the beneficiary of such donations. Camp Good Grief provides free counseling to kids who have lost a loved one. Over the years, we have been able to contribute thousands of dollars to this worthy cause.
POLICE OFFICER OF THE MONTH - For over 30 years, our association has honored a worthy law enforecement officer at our member luncheons. The officer is nominated by a liasion officer who works with us on this project, and the officer is presented a plaque at our lunch meeting. We support all of our first responders, and appreciate their work for us.
